Sea Turtles:

Sea turtle season in Destin occurs between April and November. Sea turtles come ashore at night on our beaches every year to dig their nests and lay their eggs. Unfortunately, sea turtles are threatened with extinction due to habitat destruction. Because female turtles come to shore to lay their eggs at night, it is very important that we do our part in helping protect these beautiful creatures. If staying in one of our Destin condos, please do not use lights when on the beach at night and make sure to shut off balcony lights as any disturbance can cause the female turtle or hatchlings to become unsettled. The Emerald Coast CVB/Okaloosa County Tourist Development Council offers Nighttime Educational Beach Walks if you are interested in learning more about sea turtles and their environment.

Dolphins:

Birds:

A really amazing pastime while in Destin is bird watching. You don’t have to be an expert bird-watcher to go out and see different species of birds.
